“The Texas Ranger Memorial Cross Program is funded in part by a grant from the Texas Historical Foundation and generous donations from Texas Ranger descendants.”
Former Texas Rangers Association Memorial Cross Program
Today, thanks to the Former Texas Rangers Association, more than 650 cross ceremonies across Texas and several other states have been held.
The FTRA, with continued support from the Texas Historical Foundation provides the Texas Ranger Memorial Cross to members of the Association to mark their honored Ranger’s grave. These crosses are furnished at no cost to families that are members of the FTRA and are limited to one cross per member. Crosses are shipped for a nominal fee, to the member or designated address and it is the responsibility of the FTRA member to have the cross installed at the gravesite.
The FTRA will assist any member of the FTRA in conducting a memorial service for their honored Ranger and will make every effort to have a designated representative present at the service.
Our Board of Directors believes that by providing these crosses and ceremonies we are keeping alive the memory of the Rangers who have gone before us and fulfilling our mission to create landmarks relating to Texas Ranger history.
